Meet the Farmers

Allan and Jeanne Sexton

Meadow Haven Farm was started by Allan and Jeanne. With life-long interest in nutrition and health, Allan and Jeanne decided the only way to really produce good healthy food for their five children and fourteen grandchildren was to produce it themselves.

A holistic veterinarian prior to retirement into farming, Allan had been raised on a family farm in Ohio.  He knew that animals needed fresh air and pasture to be healthy and happy.

So, they searched for the best farmland they could find for their idea of an organic farm. One that would raise grass-fed, grass-finished beef and pastured chickens, turkeys and eggs.  As well as allow Allan to have a large garden and orchard. They found it in Bureau County, Illinois, about two hours west of Chicago.

Jeremy and Cherie House

Jeremy and Cherie House joined Allan and Jeanne a few years after the founding of the farm.

Jeremy farmed and ran a dairy with his father.  He now handles the day-to day operation of the farm.

Cherie was a junior high school physical education teacher and coach before having three children and “retiring” to the farm to help raise all the pastured poultry.
